Self-Management

Self-Management is the ability to understand and regulate your emotions, thoughts, and actions in a way that promotes more positive wellbeing for self and others around you.  Being able to effectively manage different situations and people encountered helps us to achieve our goals, sustain positive relationships, and succeed in and out of school.

Our lessons and conversation starters on each page are formatted for use by the classroom teacher, parent, or other adult who works with students.  Every situation is different and these resources provide adults who access this site with the greatest flexibility for use. On each lesson page you will find:
  • The entire classroom PDF lesson, available in the bottom portion of each lesson page under the heading School to Home Resources, has also been “coded” to the page so anyone can see at a glance what the class lesson is about.
  • Specially designed lesson extensions that complement the class lesson are attached as a PDF called Conversation Starters.  These short documents provide a quick overview of the lesson focus and recommended questions caregivers and other adults can use to prompt meaningful conversation with children and youth on the topic.  Each Conversation Starter PDF is located at the top portion of the page under the heading Family Resources.
Any adult who works with children and youth can choose to use the Class Lesson components in their setting and/or the Conversation Starters.
